Helene Blowers was chosen by the Library Journal as one of the „Movers and Shakers“ in the library world. As Public Services Technology Director at the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County in North Carolina, her job is to introduce new technologies to enable the library to expand patron services and reach out to new users. Realizing that traditional classroom instruction would not train librarians at a pace to keep up with all the new tools available, Blowers created Learning 2.0, a self-paced technology discovery program that requires staff to use Web 2.0 tools such as blogs, wikis, and podcasts in a series of task-based assignments.
